The Atlanta Radio Club had a unique and fun two-for-one event on Saturday, September 11, at Blackburn Park, 3493 Ashford Dunwoody Road, Brookhaven, GA 30319.
That day was the first day of the ARRL September ARRL VHF contest. (See a description here) The club set up a variety of radios and antennas to operate on:
Bands:
We had a station set up with several antennas, including an unusual large rectangular antenna, called a Moxon (see the picture below), suspended from a tree limb. We operated on 2m, 6m and, just to demo HF, 20m. Jeff, W4JEW, bought his radio and antenna and made several contacts using FT8 on 2m.
We packed up around sundown and headed to a nearby restaurant/ watering hole for dinner. The event was a lot of fun.
