Presentation:  Using chatGPT from OpenAI to play the role of a Ham Elmer
Description:
Recently, there has been extensive coverage of artificial intelligence (AI) in the media, highlighting both its potential benefits for society and its potential for harm. One notable AI tool that has garnered attention is ChatGPT, developed by the company OpenAI, which stands as one of the pioneering generative AI chatbots available to the public. OpenAI itself has been in the spotlight due to internal management issues. Our presentation will begin with an overview of fundamental AI concepts, followed by a demonstration showcasing how ChatGPT can serve as a helpful resource for hams as a substitute “elmer”.

Feel free to ask questions. In technical audiences, it's common for some people to not fully grasp everything they hear but feel too hesitant to ask for clarification. If you're unsure about something and are hesitating to ask because you think it might be too trivial, please don't hesitate any longer—go ahead and ask. There will likely be others in the audience who will appreciate your question and benefit from the clarification it brings.

Georgia QSO Party Operating Event
Date: Saturday, April 13 2024

Time: 2:00 PM ET (1800Z)

Location: Brook Run Park
4770 North Peachtree Road
Dunwoody, GA 30338
We'll be near the park's "T" intersection in the middle of the park, near the restrooms, across from the amphitheater.  The park streets are Georgia Way and Dekalb Drive.  There is a parking lot entrance on Dekalb way.
What3Words

about 100 feet from that intersection.
Description: The Atlanta Radio Club is planning an operating event at Brook Run Park for the  Georgia QSO Party.
The goal is to set up in the park, work a few stations, check radios, antennas, gear in general, to make sure those who are going to work the QSO party are good to go.
This is will not be a big setup, like Field Day, rather simple and quick to move radio/antenna/battery stations.  There are some special events that weekend so we are expecting to have stations
to work.
The pavilion we use is dry; rain or shine we will be there. So if you want to come out and set up - come on out and set up.
Everyone who wants to get on the air will get on the air, either by using your own radio or by using one of ours. If you have a radio but no portable power supply come on out, there will be extra batteries AND Anderson Power Poles can be installed on your power connections as needed. If you need an antenna for your radio, you can hook up to one of ours. We'll get you on the air even if you don't have a license (it's legal). Come on by.
Some snacks, soft drinks and water, will be available.

WORKED ALL GEORGIA AWARD

The Atlanta Radio Club, with the support of the Georgia Section of the ARRL, is proud to support the "Worked All Georgia" Award. The WAG Award is open to radio amateurs who can provide proof of two-way radio amateur radio contact with all 159 counties in the state of Georgia. This award is nice complement to the annual Georgia QSO Party, which in fact would be a good time to work on some of those hard-to-get counties. The award is embodied in a nice certificate.
More information can be found here.

CLUB HISTORY

The Atlanta Radio Club (ARC) was founded in March 1911. It is believed to be the longest continually operating non-university club in Georgia (Georgia Tech was founded earlier). With over 100 members, ARC activities include meetings, operating events, training sessions, membership outings, and community service activities in Metro-Atlanta.

The ARC helps operate the Atlanta Hamfestival and owns, operates or supports 11 repeaters around the metro area.  In an average month, the club will hold a regular membership meeting, a tech/training session or operating outing, publish the Atlanta Ham newsletter, have 8 lunch outings and host over 20 nets via club repeaters.

SISTER Club - Geelong Amateur Radio Club - VK3ATL

Did you know the Atlanta Radio Club has a sister club?

In 2010, Dallas Jones (VK3DJ) from Drysdale, Victoria in Australia visited the United States to meet some friends he met on the air. "During his travels, he visited the Atlanta Radio Club and from all accounts had a great time with the guys."

BADGES

The official badge supplier of the ARC is The Signman of Baton Rouge.
